What is Kombucha?
Kombucha is a fermented tea drink made from green or black tea (or both), sugar, yeast and bacteria, and is believed to have originated in China about 2,000 years ago. It’s made by adding a colony of live bacteria and yeast, known as a SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast), to sweetened tea and leaving it to ferment for a few weeks until it turns into a slightly sweet, slightly tart beverage that’s separated from the SCOBY and bottled.
Once the first fermentation phase has been completed, we add fresh fruit and herbs to add some flavour after which it will go into its second fermentation.
During this fermentation it will build up carbonation. Once that phase has been completed the bottles will be cooled in the refrigerator, waiting for you!
And Jun Kombucha?
Jun Kombucha is the sister of regular Kombucha. We consider her our Queen. Often referred to as the “champagne of Kombucha,” jun has a crisper, brighter flavour than that of traditional kombucha. It is brewed with green tea and raw honey, resulting in a delicate and delicious brew. Experience Kombucha drinkers will appreciate her elegance and refer to her as Kombucha – Brut.
Sustainability (deposit & recycling system)
Besides the fact that we only use 100% certified and organic ingredients, we believe that our kombucha also deserves a worthy packaging. That is why we chose the iconic swing-top bottle, not only because it looks great and is best suited for Kombucha, but also because it is made of glass.
We believe that, together with you as a customer, we make a sustainable choice. That is why we want to prevent our product from ending up in the waste bin as much as possible.
You pay a one-time, per bottle, deposit of € 2,-.
Once the bottles are empty (and your gut is indulged), you return the bottles (either at our pop-up store or when a new order is being delivered) and for each bottle you return, you get a € 2,- discount per new bottle. We will thoroughly clean and sterilize all returned bottles.
In case you do not want a new product, you will simply receive your money back into your account.
This is how we take care of our mother Earth, together.
